Guild Ball rules released
Hurrah! The official Guild Ball rules have been released, you can grab a copy over at guildball.com – go.. go now. What are you waiting for? Go grab a copy and don’t come back until you do.
I’ll admit, at first glance I wasn’t all that interested when the kickstarter went live, I’m not entirely sure why (probably something to do with bloodbowl and thinking it would be better suited to a board game with marked squares) but I’m glad Dave clued me into why it was one to keep an eye on and gave me a game or two using the playtest rules (he even got himself a mention in the credits, well done that man!) and the paper cut out tokens and those games have been simply fun. The rules themselves are pretty easy to wrap your head around too which is always a bonus for people like me who are easily confused and/or easily forget things.
The models aren’t that far off either, you can pre-order from most decent games stores (The Outpost and Element Games spring to mind, both offering 10% discount on RRP), the models are what I was most interested in and the original shipping date has been and gone and there seemed to be a few setbacks, but ultimately it looks like we’re finally going to get our grubby mitts on the models within the next week or two and from all the shots we’ve seen, they really are gorgeous looking. I’ll say more on the models when they arrive here but if Dave’s limited edition ‘Boiler’ is a good example of the standard they’re working to then we’re all in for a very well sculpted, very well cast range of miniatures. I’m kind of gutted that I went the cheap route and only pledged for one team but it’s not taken much convincing to start looking at the pre-orders for other teams already. Butchers or Brewers are the most likely options, but we’ll see!..
Go grab those rules already. Seriously, just go.
